Find your rhythm. Build a habit that lasts.

Reset is a six-week online course that helps you rebuild your writing routine – and keep it going. Over the past six years, it’s supported hundreds of writers to turn stop–start frustration into steady, sustainable progress.

You’ll get the structure, support and tools to create a writing routine that fits your life. Reset isn’t about producing a single project – it’s about building a habit that lasts.

No guilt. No grind. Just steady progress – and the confidence to keep going

What is Reset?

There are lots of courses out there to help you start writing, spark your creativity, and get the words flowing - and that's great.

But let's be honest: starting is the easy part. If you've ever tackled a writing project, you know the real challenge is sticking with it and actually finishing.

That's why we created Reset - a six-week course designed to help you cross the finish line and build a lasting writing habit.

This isn't a bootcamp. We won't lecture you on grit, perseverance, or putting your life on hold.

Instead, over six weeks, we'll guide you to write with purpose and intention. You'll discover the tools and strategies to make writing a sustainable part of your daily life.

Reset is a gentle yet powerful approach to creating a writing routine that truly works for you.

Over six weeks you receive

A proven programme built on reflective practice and accountability

Direct access to Bec and Chris throughout

Three interactive live workshops - at the start, midpoint and end - to guide you every step of the way

A structured kick-off questionnaire to set clear goals and identify obstacles

Weekly themes that keep you inspired and focused

Feel happier about your writing!

Before Reset begins, we ask writers to rate how satisfied they feel with their writing.

This year, the average score was just 4 out of 10.

Six weeks later, at the end of the course, we asked again. The average had doubled to 8. 🙌

Is the course for a particular type of writer or writing?

We are VERY inclusive. Our coaching programs are about helping you to improve your productivity and get unblocked whatever you are writing. Professors, poets, business writers, PhDs, novelists, short story writers, scriptwriters, memoirists (you get the picture) are all welcome and will all benefit.

Will Reset help me improve my grammar, punctuation and English language skills?

Reset does not cover aspects of writing craft or elements of style, fluency or literacy. It is primarily about helping you to improve your writing practice and your process – focusing on topics like productivity, routine, habits and time. RESET also helps you to overcome your obstacles to writing.

Will Reset help me improve my writing craft?

Reset is about helping you to improve your writing process - it does not focus on craft. This means that topics such as story structure, character development, argument, style, narrative are not covered. For details on what is covered, see the 'how it works' section above.

I don't have a writing project at the moment - is the course right for me?

I'm afraid not. Reset is for people who have a project/projects to tackle over the course of the programme. You can have multiple projects at different stages - that's no problem! But you will need something to work on.

How’s it delivered and structured?

The programme combines reflective practice with accountability. You’ll start by completing a structured questionnaire to clarify what you need from the course and to identify the barriers holding back your writing.

From there, we run three interactive live webinars with Q&A: a kick-off session to help you set a clear writing goal, a midpoint check-in to keep you on track and a wrap-up workshop to reflect on progress and plan your next steps. You’ll share your goal with us at the start, and we’ll hold you accountable throughout.

Each week we introduce a theme to focus on, and at the end of the week we send you a video answering questions, reflections and comments from participants. This is your chance to ask anything and get tailored guidance.

Along the way we provide feedback, coaching support and resources - including tips, exercises and further reading - so you have everything you need to build a sustainable writing routine.

How much time will it take and do I need to take time off to do it?

The course helps you reflect on how you write and the blocks and barriers you face.

It has a fixed start and end date. It is self paced but for the the best results we recommend that you follow the programme week by week.

We give you themes for the week with videos and reading. We also give you reflection exercises to try and tip sheets to read – but only when and where you need these.

Tell me about the workshops

Reset kicks off with a live interactive supported goal setting webinar where we delve into your writing challenges and offer immediate advice and support, signposting you to downloadable tip sheets and exercises where necessary. This provides you with the support and accountability to need to progress your writing.
The programme closes with a second workshop where we reflect on what you have learned and give you the tools to build a habit that sustains your practice.

What if I can't make the webinars?

No problem! All the workshops and live webinars will be recorded and can be rewatched at your leisure.

Do I need to do all the reflection exercises?

We can’t make you do the work, but you’ll be missing out if you don’t make time for the exercises we send you. We’ve designed the course around a pedagogy which mean that one week’s theme flows into the next, so it builds week by week. The writers who engage fully with the programme get the most out of it.

Do I need to come prepared?

The RESET plan is designed for people who already have a project (or projects) that they want to write. Before the programme starts, we’ll send you a questionnaire to help you think through your writing goal, what you want to achieve from the RESET programme and how you want to advance your writing practice.

This will support your preparation and help you plan for the course.

I'm mainly looking for ideas and inspiration - can you help?

Sorry, no. This programme isn’t right for you. It’s for writers who have a project in mind or have a work in progress and want to invest in improving their writing practice. We can help you choose the best project to work on, but you do need an idea before taking the course.

What if the time’s not right to do the course?

No problem – but let us ask you this: Be honest with yourself. Do you REALLY see a time that will ever be right? This course is all about finding a time NOW in the busyness and chaos of your life as it is. You might never find a perfect time!

You’re Brits right – how will this work if I’m in a different time zone?

Indeed we are Brits (you mean you can hear us drinking Earl Grey from our bone china tea cups from where you are?) Each section of the course will be available at 8am GMT and you'll be notified when a section is ready. The two live webinars will take place at 1pm GMT and will be recorded. We regularly welcome writers to our programmes from across the globe so will be as flexible as we can.

Are there any marked assignments at the end?

No, it’s not school so we don’t mark your work. However, each week we will ask you to engage fully and answer reflection questions so we can support your learning and monitor your progress. Again, this is about working with you to develop your process and practice over the course of six weeks.

Will the course help me come up with ideas?

The programme is predominantly about helping writers to combat their blocks and barriers to writing and improving their productivity in a way that’s meaningful to them. It’s not really about idea generation although that’s usually a happy by-product from engaging with your writing.

Can I get a certificate of completion?

Of course! We know that some institutions/funding bodies require evidence of attendance. Just ask!

I still have a question - can I contact you?

Of course! Email us at: hello@writtenacademy.com - we look forward to talking to you.
