"What truly made a difference for me was the accountability structure of RESET. Being able to set my own deadlines and have regular check-ins kept me on track and significantly boosted my productivity. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for structured support and guidance in their writing journey. An invaluable experience."

What is RESET?

There are plenty of courses that help you to start writing and give you the inspiration and ideas to get going - and that’s brilliant.

But in many ways, starting is the easy bit. If you’ve ever written anything of any length, you’ll probably know that it’s the ‘keeping going’ bit and the ‘finishing’ bit that are *really* tough.

We designed our six-week RESET course to get you across the finishing line and support you long-term.

It's not a bootcamp. We don’t teach you about grit, perseverance and determination.

We don’t tell you to put your life on hold.

Over six weeks, we teach you how to write in a more deliberate, intentional way. We help you build the tools and tactics that make writing a sustainable part of your life.

RESET is a gentle but powerful way to build a writing routine that works for you.

Over six weeks you receive

  • A tried and tested programme based around reflective practice and accountability.

  • Interactive workshops with Bec and Chris that top and tail the programme.

  • A structured kick-off questionnaire that helps you set a writing goal and identify your obstacles.

  • Weekly themes exploring an area of your writing practice.

  • Weekly check-in videos providing answers to your questions and practical tips to try.

  • Tailored tips and exercises – responsive to your needs.

  • Community support and email access to Bec and Chris throughout.

Feel happier about your writing!

Before a RESET course starts we ask participants to score how satisfied they feel about their writing.

This September, people gave an average rating of 3 out of 10.

After the course ends, we ask them again. Their average rating had risen to 7. 🙌

What could you achieve?

One to one support

RESET + Coaching

How RESET works

A unique combination of support, reflective practice and accountability featuring online workshops sessions with the authors of Written.

Before starting you complete a questionnaire to help you define what you want from the programme. This also helps us understand how we can support you most effectively.

Week 1 Workshop: Harnessing your starting energy

The course kicks off with a webinar which supports you to set a writing goal. Then, we help you to get specific and become more aware of the common barriers you face.

Week 2: Finding time, using it better

Next, the focus turns to time: finding it, managing it and prioritising writing alongside the other things in your life. Discover your scheduling type and develop ways to use your time better.

Week 3: Managing unhelpful thoughts

The third week is about tackling your writing demons: distraction, anxiety, procrastination, self-doubt and guilt. Understand what blocks hold you back, develop new strategies to beat them.

Week 4: Keeping motivated

In week four you learn the accountability practices, tactics, tips, behaviours and mental models that will keep you feeling motivated, energised and keen to continue.

Week 5: Lay the foundations of a habit

Week five will help you make writing easier and more routine-like. You learn the principles and structure that helps you build a habit that's right for you and your life.

Week 6 Workshop: Wrap up and reflect

Lastly, you attend a webinar which consolidates your learning and helps you to reflect on what you have noticed about yourself and your writing.

Frequently asked questions

When will the next programme start and end?

Our next RESET programmes:

May 31 - July 12 2024

How much does it cost?

The full price is £299 per place. Payment plans are available.
Early bird offers are available when you join the waiting list.

We also offer add-on one to one coaching should you need extra support. Our RESET + Coaching package costs £599.

Is the course for a particular type of writer or writing?

We are VERY inclusive. Our coaching programs are about helping you to improve your productivity and get unblocked whatever you are writing. Professors, poets, business writers, PhDs, novelists, short story writers, scriptwriters, memoirists (you get the picture) are all welcome and will all benefit.

Will RESET help me improve my grammar, punctuation and English language skills?

RESET does not cover aspects of writing craft or elements of style, fluency or literacy. It is primarily about helping you to improve your writing practice and your process – focusing on topics like productivity, routine, habits and time. RESET also helps you to overcome your obstacles to writing.

Will RESET help me improve my writing craft?

RESET is about helping you to improve your writing process - it does not focus on craft. This means that topics such as story structure, character development, argument, style, narrative are not covered. For details on what is covered, see the 'how it works' section above.

I don't have a writing project at the moment - is RESET right for me?

I'm afraid not. RESET is for people who have a project/projects to tackle over the course of the programme. You can have multiple projects at different stages - that's no problem! But you will need something to work on.

How’s it delivered and structured?

The RESET programme is a combination of reflective practice and accountability. First, you complete a structured questionnaire that helps you think through what you need from the programme and identify your writing barriers. Then, a workshop and Q&A with Bec and Chris helps you define a writing goal for the RESET programme. We ask you to send us your goal to keep you accountable.

We answer questions, provide online coaching support and feedback along the way.

Every week we give you a theme to focus on and you check in at the end of the week with us. We'll send you a video which addresses the questions, reflections and comments we've received over the week.

This is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

We are responsive and provide support throughout and where needed, we send you tips, exercise sheets and further reading.

How much time will it take and do I need to take time off to do it?

The course helps you reflect on how you write and the blocks and barriers you face.

It has a fixed start and end date. It is self paced but for the the best results we recommend that you follow the programme week by week.

The course is self paced. We give you themes for the week with videos and reading. We also give you reflection exercises to try and tip sheets to read – but only when and where you need these.

Tell me about the workshops

RESET kicks off with a live interactive supported goal setting webinar where we delve into your writing challenges and offer immediate advice and support, signposting you to downloadable tip sheets and exercises where necessary. This provides you with the support and accountability to need to progress your writing.
The programme closes with a second workshop where we reflect on what you have learned and give you the tools to build a habit that sustains your practice.

What if I can't make the webinars?

No problem! All the workshops and live webinars will be recorded and can be rewatched at your leisure.

Do I need to do all the reflection exercises?

We can’t make you do the work, but you’ll be missing out if you don’t make time for the exercises we send you. We’ve designed the course around a pedagogy which mean that one week’s theme flows into the next, so it builds week by week. The writers who engage fully with the programme get the most out of it.

Do I need to come prepared?

The RESET plan is designed for people who already have a project (or projects) that they want to write. Before the programme starts, we’ll send you a questionnaire to help you think through your writing goal, what you want to achieve from the RESET programme and how you want to advance your writing practice.

This will support your preparation and help you plan for the course.

I'm mainly looking for ideas and inspiration - can you help?

Sorry, no. This programme isn’t right for you. It’s for writers who have a project in mind or have a work in progress and want to invest in improving their writing practice. We can help you choose the best project to work on, but you do need an idea before taking the course.

What if the time’s not right to do the course?

No problem – but let us ask you this: Be honest with yourself. Do you REALLY see a time that will ever be right? This course is all about finding a time NOW in the busyness and chaos of your life as it is. You might never find a perfect time!

You’re Brits right – how will this work if I’m in a different time zone?

Indeed we are Brits (you mean you can hear us drinking Earl Grey from our bone china tea cups from where you are?) Each section of the course will be available at 8am GMT/BST and you'll be notified when a section is ready. The two live webinars will take place at 1pm GMT/BST and will be recorded. We regularly welcome writers to our programmes from across the globe so will be as flexible as we can.

Are there any marked assignments at the end?

No, it’s not school so we don’t mark your work. However, each week we will ask you to engage fully and answer reflection questions so we can support your learning and monitor your progress. Again, this is about working with you to develop your process and practice over the course of six weeks.

Will the course help me come up with ideas?

The programme is predominantly about helping writers to combat their blocks and barriers to writing and improving their productivity in a way that’s meaningful to them. It’s not really about idea generation although that’s usually a happy by-product from engaging with your writing.

Can I get a certificate of completion?

Of course! We know that some institutions/funding bodies require evidence of attendance. Just ask!

I still have a question - can I contact you?

Of course! Email us at: hello@prolifiko.com - we look forward to talking to you.
